Congratulations 2015 Graduates

Achievement House is proud to announce plans for our Graduation Ceremonies on Saturday, June 13, 2015. Our Eastern Graduation Ceremony will be held at West Chester University’s Asplundh Theater. Our Western Graduation Ceremony will be held at Seton Hill University Performing Arts Center. Congratulations to our Valedictorian, Natalie Kreider and Salutatorian, Victoria Fracica.

Rich Sedmak, CEO of Schoolyard Ventures., is the scheduled guest speaker in the east. Rich is an entrepreneur and education reformer. Currently, Rich is the co-founder of Schoolyard Ventures., a program with the belief that a great education should inspire a love of continuous learning and instill in each student the ability to deal with a world filled with uncertainty. Startup Corps has built an educational experience for high school students in Philadelphia that is personalized, inquiry based, action-focused and 21st century relevant, and has inspired AHCCS students to begin their own successful businesses. In addition, Rich has served as an Entrepreneur in Residence (EIR) at Wharton, and is currently a board member of several non-profits.

Jon Marsh, Chief Academic Officer at AHCCS, will speak to our eastern graduates. Before coming to Achievement House in January 2015, he was the Director and CEO of 21st Century Cyber Charter School for eleven years. He has also been involved in the charter school movement since the early 1990’s. Jon has had a role in opening over a dozen charter schools since the movement began in Minnesota in 1992. Jon received his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Minnesota. He taught for two years in the classroom and served for a year as a district-wide Integrated Learning Systems Coordinator in a large school district in northern Minnesota. Jon also worked as a Systems Engineer for Apple Computers for three years and is the former owner of a number of fast food restaurants. Jon received his Master’s degree from Drexel University and he is currently working on his Dissertation, titled A Case Study of Attrition at a Virtual Charter School, for his Doctorate in Education from Drexel.
